Hello all,
I would like to point out some features of the INFRATECH web
archive that you may not be aware of, and to ask for some help in
improving the archive’s searchability.
The link to the archive is: http://infratechonline.net/
First, what is the web archive?
It is a NON password protected web site that has been set up
to make the postings to our discussion group more accessible to both
subscribers and non-subscribers. I review each posting and assign
keywords, remove email addresses (so your email address won’t be added to
spam harvesters) and post to the web site.
There are now two years of postings (about 250 in total) on
the web site, and it becomes a more valuable knowledge base as time
progresses.
One can search postings by date, keyword, or subject category, as well
as doing free text searches. An interesting feature of the web site is the
“keyword cloud” in the right hand column. The keywords are listed
alphabetically, in varying font sizes. The larger the font size, the larger the number
of postings that have that keyword. If you move your cursor over a keyword,
a number appears indicating how many postings have that keyword. If you click on
a keyword, all those postings are brought up on the screen in reverse
chronological order. One can also call up the postings for a given month, or by
subject heading.
It is the subject headings that I am looking for some help
with. Perhaps there is a subscriber out there who has some indexing
skills. The subject headings as they currently exist do not seem very useful. They
are intended to be broader categories than the keywords, but in fact the
subject headings are duplicates of some of the keywords.
All suggestions are most welcome.
