INFRATECH postings mistakenly identified as spam

Hi all,

Some of the recent postings on the latest discussion “Dream list not a wishlist” have not been received by all subscribers.

You may not have received some or all of the postings on this topic from the following individuals in the past few days:

The reason why I think these postings have not been received by many of you has to do with the nature of spam filters which are now built in to all email programs.

If a spam filter sees an email that contains many external links to other web sites, it may decide that the message is spam.

In a long discussion like the “dream list” discussion, each author attaches all the previous postings at the end of his/her message (this happens automatically in most email programs when you hit “reply”). As the cumulative number of links in the messages grows, spam filters will start to block the messages. Different subscribers have different spam filters, so some of you will have received all of the above postings, others may have received none. (This tends to kill a good discussion.)

The solution is simple: If you are posting a message in a long discussion, delete all the older messages except the most recent one from the bottom of your message. This will stop the accumulation of things that spam filters don’t like.
