The fact that regulations pertaining to healthcare technology exists in most
countries is good. I however think that developing countries are susceptible
to adopting regulations applicable to other countries who have already moved
along the “curve” as it were. Largely adopting regulations which cannot
reasonably enforced in their jurisdictions – either because the technology

Developing countries

Regulations pertaining healthcare technology exist in most countries. My personal
observations on this issue:

* regulations usually cover pharmaceuticals and radiation, but generally do not
address general medical equipment and the standard of care and quality of medical
services and facilities
* regulations are not enforced
* no one knows the regulations
* regulations are usually too strict and, if enforced, further prevent any
progress (e.g. ridiculous [...]

Kudos Michael for keeping the fire burning on this issue. Hopefully in the end there
will some direction.

Just a few comments from me. Most countries have regulation, policies, etc. It is the
enforcement/implementation that is usually the problem.

Thanks for your moderation.

I believe that the main role of any government should be formulation and control of
regulations, and that is where we should help, by assisting in the formulation of
regulations that are modern, fair and that presumably lead to progress and that enable
quality healthcare.
